From Cat, Jack, Magik & Sylver

Another years worth of calendar pages have been turned, and again, there is much to be thankful for. Most especially of course that everyone is healthy! Oh and I still love my house!

This year in review has to start with last year. In December of 2006 the SNOW came. Thankfully my folks arrived back at the airport on Tuesday evening, and I dragged my poor tired mom through 3 grocery stores before I finally took her home. It was a good thing, because Wednesday morning it was challenging getting to the office and at 10am they sent us all home. The campus was closed for 3 days, right up to the winter break. I spent the time shoveling out my walks, helping my parents shovel theirs, and snuggling with my furry kids. Almost 3 feet is a LOT to shovel, and it seemed like every weekend for the next 2 months we got more snow. Starting January 1st the streets were 6” solid pack ice and my car did not get out of the carport till almost March.

In January I did the lunch for the local SCA 12th night gathering: Egg and cheese pies, Spinach and egg pies, salad, smoked meats, medieval mac-n-cheese, and more, for 150 guests. February I got to host my brothers birthday celebration, March was fairly quiet but April made up for it: Oly and I were happy to help organize and create a very special 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration for my parents, then dear friends were married, and finally my cooking club took a field trip to Kansas and got stranded by a failed clutch :-O

May brought beautiful flowers in the garden and I was able to host both Mothers and Fathers Day at my home for their celebrations. Also in June friends organized a pig roast (Yep whole pig – head and all, roaster, cook all day) that I was able to participate in. YUM! July was busy with ‘field trips’ to the ren fair, a huge local Asian market, the German Fest, another Wedding, and most special of all, my first apprentice was joined by a brother (and I cant express how honored I am by them, and how proud they continue to make me.) August held Dads birthday (which I did not get to host ;-) and several parties and BBQs. In September I was part of a group excursion to a pick-your-own-produce farm and came home with more than 50 lbs of veggies to process in addition to the more modest harvest from my own garden. I canned tomatoes, beets, senfgurken, crab apple jelly, apple sauce, and more. Oh also in September there was the anime con, and I cant forget meeting Terri Pratchett for my birthday (and eating yummy Nepali food while sitting on the floor in the line waiting for the autograph table to open – it was a most unique and fun way to celebrate,) followed a few days later by fancy French food and Spamalot! October contained a surprise co-autocrating gig with Queens-Con landing at Three Spires, as well as a most amazing Halloween. In November I was able to treat my mom to a home made birthday dinner (Rouladen) with her furry grand kids as well as her two legged family, and now it is December again. The tree is up, and the year is winding down.

I leave you with this years card, showing my boys all dressed up for Halloween. Magik and Sylver each have their own kind of wings, and Jack knows he’s the cats meow.

PS, my office email will be undergoing re-construction over the holiday break, so this e-dress may be a more reliable way to reach me, or if its truly urgent, call me.
