Setting up a directory structure

To begin putting your site together, it is important to set up a directory structure or a series of folders on your hard-drive. This will be important when you begin to link the pages together. This step is required no matter what tool you are using to create the site.

  1. Create a folder on your hard drive called "ecourses".
  2. In the folder "ecourses", create subfolders for each online course or section of each course that you will be teaching.
  3. In each subfolder, create a sub-sub folder called "images" to hold all of your graphics for this course.
  4. Move html files and graphic files into the folders as you complete them.

Here is an example of the directory setup.
