Yellow -

The yellow template will be used for creating individual or independent study courses. If you have a single independent study student, you will use this template to create a site to monitor their work. If you have multiple independent study students, each student should have their own web site. The homepage of the instructor's site will become a directory for each student to link to their site.

This template will not have many pages to create to begin with. Parts of the site will be added as the semester goes on and the instructor receives deliverables and feed back from the students.

We have provided an alternate format (an additional template) for the yellow site. If you have the technical knowledge, a useful format for this type of course might be a frameset. It will save you some time by setting up the framework of the site at the beginning, and just adding content and links as needed. A frameset is easily duplicated for multiple students, just make one frameset and change the content. Separates sites would not be necessary. However, the same functionality can be accomplished using regular HTML pages and text. Remember, that adding a frameset also adds additional problems, so this might be something to try once you have already tried designing a couple of sites.

The sections of the yellow template were designed based on an Instructional Design model for creating a course. Independent students are asked to create their own learning experience. Using this process will help them focus and teach them the proper way to design a learning experience. If you are unfamiliar with instructional design practices, consider taking the online workshop, "Course Construction" before using this template format.
