Colorado Association
for
Health, Physical Education,
Recreation and Dance

The Colorado Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (CAHPERD) is a non-profit organization composed of between 500-700 educators and college students majoring in one of the above areas.

CAHPERD provides an annual convention the first week in October, preconvention and outreach workshops, publications designed to inform and enhance the work of members, and a lobbyist at the state legislature. CAHPERD, in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Education, played a vital role in the establishment and writing of content standards for physical education in Colorado.

CAHPERD has a well established and highly effective collaboration with the Colorado and Wyoming division of the American Heart Association, especially through the Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart programs.

The CAHPERD Executive Board meets five times yearly (November, January, March, May and September). For more information about CAHPERD call the Executive Director at 970-407-0547.
