conference in Denver on September 26th, 2008.
E-mail your proposal to Pam Smith (smith_p@fortlewis.edu) no
later than noon on Monday, May 12th. Our subcommittee will respond to
you within a day or so whether your proposal can be included in the
RMAMTE strand. If not, you will still have time to submit it to CCTM
directly (their deadline is May 15th).
Please include the following in your proposal for inclusion in the
RMAMTE strand: a brief description of your presentation/discussion,

COLOMATYC meeting in Colorado Springs
With Governor Ritter's focus on education from pre-school through
graduate school, we feel that there is a strong need to address the
preparation of mathematics teachers for kindergarten through high
school.
We will start with an open forum in which participants can discuss
issues, questions, and problems that we, as college mathematics
teachers, have regarding the mathematical preparation of public school
teachers. Clark Dollard will facilitate this activity for about 30
minutes.
Then we could say, "Wow, wasn't that fun? This is why we want to let
everyone know about The Rocky Mountain Association of Mathematics
Teachers Educators, RMAMTE." Mary Sloan will present information on
this organization. It is part of the Association of Mathematics Teachers
Educators. See the web site at http://clem.mscd.edu/~bevans21/rmamte.htm and the national site at http://www.amte.net.
Look for our special session
at the Rocky Mountain Section of the MAA.
