TRANSPERSONAL PSYCHOTHERAPY AND SPIRITUAL EMERGENCY

Part Two TRANSPERSONAL CONTENT

Content refers to the material, issues, experiences, or behaviors which are dealt with in therapy. These are examples of transpersonal content:

  • transpersonal experiences such as mystical experiences or experiences of non-duality
  • peak experiences, plateau experiences
  • spiritual emergencies
  • transpersonal crises
  • initiatiatory experiences around life transitions
  • meditative states of consciousness
  • shamanic states of consciousness

In addition to content which is specifically transpersonal, a transpersonal psychotherapist might bring a transpersonal context to dealing with most of the issues brought to therapy, such as:

  • addiction and recovery
  • trauma recovery
  • relationships issues
  • grief and loss
  • life transitions
  • stress management
  • etc.
