Education:
After receiving B.A. (summa cum laude) in
English from Adams State Collage (Colorado) in 1979, Dr.
Williams-Gascon pursued graduate study in French
Language, Culture and Literature at l'Universite de Paris
IV (Sorbonne) while on a Rotary Graduate Fellowship. She
completed the M.A. in French at the University of
Cincinnati in 1982. She was awarded a Fulbright to
continue study at the Universite de Lyon II, and was at
the same time an 'Assistante d'Anglais'. Upon receiving a
Diplome d'Etudes Approfondies from Lyon II, she joined
the doctoral program at Northwestern University in
Chicago. She received her Ph.D. in 1989, with a
dissertation on French theater and government-sponsored
cultural exchange between France and the US. She
has been teaching at Metro since 1990 and has co-authored
three textbooks, Collage, Montage and Débuts,
all published by McGraw-Hill
.
Teaching and Research
Interests:
In addition to teaching French Language and
Culture courses in the Multimedia
Classrooms of the Plaza Building, her
interests include advanced courses in French Literature,
Culture and Civilization, and French theater. Her current
research involves the teaching of culture and how best to
prepare students culturally and linguistically for the
21st century. She also enjoys acting in French plays each
year with the Alliance and
Co., a Denver based theater company, and
directing her son Benjamin's
language acquisition.

Association of Teachers of French (AATF), the
American Council on
the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), the
Colorado Congress
of Foreign Laanguage Teachers (CCFLT) and the
Modern Language
Association (MLA).
