Instructions for

Saving your WebQuest & Uploading your files

to your personal Clem account (the WebServer)

Once you have uploaded your files to your Clem account, your website will be on-line and accessible for the entire World to see! Your web address is: http://clem.mscd.edu/~username

Saving your WebQuest:

The name of your main page (your main WebQuest file that you prepared in class) will become your homepage of your WebQuest and should be renamed index.htm.

Try this:

Open your WebQuest in MS Word.
Click File from the menu bar. Click on Save As WebPage. Save the file to your Desktop and rename the file “index”.
When MS Word saves the file as a web page named “index”, it automatically creates a folder named “index_files” and saves that to your desktop.
If you created a worksheet that you are linking from your WebQuest, save that file as a web page to your desktop as well. MS Word will then save that file and
create another folder with the same name.
E.g. Save a worksheet as a web page to the desktop and name it "example". MS Word

will then save the file named "example" and create a folder named "example_files" to the desktop.
Once you have saved all of your files as web pages, you are ready to upload the files to your Clem account.
Upload (FTP) your files to your Clem account:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- In the address line, type ftp://clem.mscd.edu and hit the enter key on your keyboard
- Right-click anywhere in the window and select “Login as…”
- Enter your user ID and password that you previously created.
- Double-click on the public_html folder. This is the folder where you will upload all of your files.
- Minimize the Internet Explorer window.
- Locate the “index” file and the folder “index_files” on your desktop.
- Drag both the file and the folder into the public_html folder in the Internet Explorer window.
- Once all of the files are uploaded, close the Internet Explorer window.
Open Internet Explorer and type in your web address http://clem.mscd.edu/~username. Your website is now available for viewing!
