Web Authoring Integration - Job Aide
Microsoft Word 2000While there are certainly more robust tools available, Microsoft Word 2000 provides both you and your students with a very functional and familiar interface for the creation of web pages. The screen shots that follow point how to accomplish basic tasks related to web page creation within Microsoft Word 2000. Saving a Document as a Web PageAny Word document can be saved as a web page.
Step 1: Go to the File menu and select "Save
as Web Page...".
![]() Step 2: Next, type the name of your file. Remember this name, as it will be needed when creating links to this file from other pages in your WebQuest.
![]() Selecting a ThemeSelecting a Theme will provide you an easy way to apply a consistent and attractive design to all your web pages.
Step 1: Go to the Format menu and select "Theme...".
![]() Step 2: Different Themes are listed on the left panel of the screen and examples of each Theme are display in the right panel.
![]() Setting a StyleYou will likely want to distinguish between page and section
headings and plain text and hyperlinks on your web pages.
Step 1: Go to the Format menu and select "Styles
and Formatting...".
![]() Step 2: To set a style, highlight the text you wish to change and click on the style you wish to apply.
![]() Creating HyperlinksHyperlinks are what give the World Wide Web (www) its unique character. By inserting hyperlinks into your web pages, you enable your students to quickly and easily branch out to relevant web pages or resources.
Step 1: Go to the Insert menu and select "Hyperlink...".
![]() Step 2: Enter the name of the file you wish to link
to. If you are linking to another website, enter the full address (URL)
of this web page, including the prefix "http://".
![]() With most Themes, hyperlinks will typically appear in a different color and will be underlined by default.
