Department of Corrections - Community Corrections
Community corrections programs were established
in Colorado in 1977. The Division of Community Corrections is responsible
for the statewide administration of community corrections programs
for adult offenders sentenced to the Department of Corrections and
youthful offenders sentenced to the Youth Offender System, (YOS).
The program includes the referral, movement, management, supervision
and remediation of inmates assigned to 24 residential/halfway house
programs, a "Boot Camp" transitional release program, a nonresidential
Intensive Supervision Program (ISP), and YOS supervision. Community
corrections programs provide specialized treatment services focusing
on substance abuse, mental health, family reintegration, vocational,
employment and parole/community release planning.

Larimer
County, Colorado Community Corrections
Adult Services
As designed under Colorado statute, Community Corrections
works to reintegrate adult felony offenders into the local community.
Community Corrections provides the following services in residential
and nonresidential settings to nonviolent offenders: individual
and group counseling, life skills training, financial planning
and management, and crisis intervention. Community Corrections
assists the courts and the Larimer County Detention Center by
making bond recommendations so that people who are not a danger
to the community are released pending court appearance.
Youth Services Bureau
Youth Services Bureau (YSB) operates a program
that diverts youths from the juvenile justice system and prevents
them from being incarcerated in adult facilities. YSB also offers
juvenile offenders the opportunity to provide useful public services
to the community as an alternative form of restitution for breaking
the law. The Youth Offender Response Team responds 24 hours a
day, seven days a week to law enforcement emergencies involving
youth. They provide detention screening, crisis intervention,
family counseling, monitored home detention and short-term Host
Home placements.
