was established in 1973 to certify peace officers appointed by state
and local law enforcement agencies . Initially, P.O.S.T. was administered
by the Colorado Law Enforcement Training Academy in the Department
of Local Affairs. In July 1984, P.O.S.T. was transferred to the
Department of Public Safety, and in 1992 it was transferred to the
Department of Law (Office of the Attorney General), staffed by four
full time employees.
