Members of minority groups have been
and continue to be over-represented as offenders in the criminal
justice system. The reasons for this over-representation are many
and range from economic deprivation, a lack of trust in the system,
laws that are written by and for the majority in the country and
many more. I don't know all the causes, but all that I have listed
and others are probably important causes.
I believe that this country is an experiment,
an experiment to see if individuals with different backgrounds and
heritage are able to live together and prosper. I do not know the
results of this experiment, but unless we are able to more effectively
and efficiently deal with the problems that exist we are going to
have a much more difficult time surviving the next century. Some
of the web sites listed on this page may provide you information
about the issues involved.

There are many other sources of information
and sites that exist, these are just a few. I have offered some
from respected academic sources, from the government, and from individuals
with differing views.
