MTH 1400, PreCalculus Mathematics

I recommend How to Succeed in College Mathematics, by Richard M. Dahlke, to all students of mathematics at or below the level of calculus. It is a big book (27 chapters), and you will need to spend some time with it. I don't agree with everything Dahlke says in his book, but 95% of the advice he gives is very sound. If you take his advice seriously, think about it carefully, and do your best to put it into effect, it should help you improve your grades in mathematics. You can order the book from the author's website.

Using WeBWork
The graph of a function whose limit at the origin doesn't exist; approach to the origin along different lines gives different values.
The graph of another function which has no limiting value at the origin; approaching the origin along any straight line gives a limiting value of zero. However, approaching the origin along different parabolae gives different limiting values.
Here is the graph of a function which is not differentiable at the origin, even though both of its partial derivatives exist (and are zero) there.
Here's another graph; this one is of a function which is not differentiable at the origin in spite of having a directional derivative in every direction.
